Jason for Mac

Jason Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Jason, the JSON editor for Mac from Skye Road Systems, Inc. ("we," "us"), handles your information. It covers the app only; the site privacy policy covers skyeroad.com.

The short version: Jason doesn't collect, transmit, or share any information about you or your files. There are no accounts, analytics, advertising, or tracking.

Your documents

The JSON files you open, edit, query, and save stay on your Mac. Jason reads and writes only the files you choose, and its jq queries run on your Mac using a copy of jq built into the app. Jason runs in Apple's App Sandbox without network access, so it can't send your documents or anything else over the internet. Links in the app, such as the jq Manual item in the query panel, open in your web browser.

Information stored on your Mac

To remember your preferences, Jason keeps the following in its own storage on your Mac. None of it leaves your Mac.

  • Your settings, such as the default view, indentation, font size, and line wrapping.
  • Your 50 most recent queries, so you can reuse them. To erase them, open the history menu in the query panel and choose Clear History.

This information stays in Jason's folder on your Mac (~/Library/Containers/com.skyeroad.Jason) until you delete that folder, even if you delete the app.

Information handled by Apple

Apple processes App Store purchases and downloads under Apple's Privacy Policy; we don't receive your payment details. Apple gives us anonymous sales and install counts. If you turn on Share with App Developers (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may also send us anonymous crash reports and usage data. We use them only to fix problems and improve Jason.

Children

Jason doesn't collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy
